- Design of R6160 based on conception of better performance, low consumption and convenient operation
- Main alteration includes:
- Optimizing and improving fuel system, intake and exhaust system, cooling system, lubrication system and starting system on basis of original 6160 series
- Adopts such advanced device as wet oil pan, electrical pre-supply fuel pump, electric tarring motor and sea-fresh water heat exchanger
- While inheriting strong point of original 6160, performance is improved and fuel consumption is more lower (no more than 205g/kWh)
- Operation is simplified: no need to pump oil manually while starting engine
- 6160 series diesel engine, designed out of brand new conception, has reached internationally advanced position
- Speed of R6160 series marine diesel engine is 1000rpm with power range of 164kW (223HP) to 330kW (450HP)
- Marine engine divided into left engine and right engine, making convenient to operate in same engine room
- While facing flywheel of right engine rotates counterclockwise and left engine rotates clockwise
- Right engine generally used when single engine is applied
- Thickened crankshaft:
- Material of crankshaft is high strength spherulitic graphite iron which has gone through unitizing treatment
- Diameter of main axle increases from Φ125mm to Φ130mm
- Strength, rigidity as well as wear-resistant are all got enhanced, making operation more reliable and service life much longer
